Report: Former NFL Star Rob Gronkowski Signs With WWE, Will Appear At WrestleMania 36

The Spikes Will Be Coming Sooner Than Expected...

Last night, Ryan Satin reported on WWE Backstage that former New England Patriot Rob Gronkowski was close to signing with WWE.

This was just a storyline according to Mike Johnson at PWInsider as Gronk has actually officially signed with the company and last night's announcement was timed so that FOX could break the news first and get WWE some mainstream attention.

The former NFL star is scheduled to make his debut on next week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown in New Orleans, Louisiana. According to Tony Maglio at TheWrap, Gronkowski will then be part of a segment at WrestleMania 36 to set up his first match after The Showcase Of The Immortals.

This won't be the first Mania Gronk has been a part of as he helped his friend Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33. Ever since that appearance, the three time Super Bowl winner has repeatedly said he would like to compete in WWE on a part time basis, hopefully in "one crazy match."
