Report: Former Women's Champion Returning At WWE Royal Rumble

A surprising return for WWE Royal Rumble

A former women's champion is reportedly set to make her return tonight at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in San Antonio, Texas.

According to PWInsider, Nia Jax is backstage at the Royal Rumble and she will be making her WWE return in the Women's Royal Rumble match. If Jax is returning on a one-night basis or for another full-time WWE run is currently unknown.

Outside of a scrapped match for the short-lived Wrestling Entertainment Series promotion, Jax has been out of professional wrestling since her WWE release in November of 2021 and she hasn't competed inside the ring since a loss to former tag team partner Shayna Baszler on the September 20, 2021 episode of Monday Night Raw.

Jax initially noted following her release that she likely would not wrestle full-time again but that she was open to returning for a feud or to put someone over.

Prior to her release in 2021, Jax had been a part of WWE since 2014. She is a former Raw Women's Champion and two-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion with Shayna Baszler.
