Report: Further Update On Matt Cardona's Possible WWE Return

Matt Cardona has been heavily linked with a WWE return

With Triple H firmly settled into his role as WWE’s head of creative - never mind the rumour mill going into overdrive due to the recent Royal Rumble and upcoming WrestleMania 39 - the rumours of several former WWE stars returning to company refuse to die down.

One such name who has been repeatedly linked with a WWE return is that of Matt Cardona, with the former Zack Ryder’s loss to NWA World’s Champion Tyrus at NWA ‘Nuff Said adding more fuel to the fire. A report from Wrestling News Co PremiumWrestling News Co Premium suggests that some in WWE believe that Cardona’s return to the company is imminent, and the former Intercontinental Champion could make his return to the WWE for the first time since his release in 2020.

Cardona’s wife Chelsea Green made her WWE return at Royal Rumble 2023 after several months of rumours, and reports suggest Cardona’s current locker-room mates in IMPACT Wrestling believe the self proclaimed ‘Death Match King’ is finished with the company, with Cardona last wrestling for IMPACT at the January 20 TV tapings.

Cardona originally wrestled for WWE from 2005 until 2020, with ‘Zack Ryder’ getting massively over with the WWE audience in the 2010s due to his groundbreaking Z! True Long Island Story YouTube series. In WWE Cardona is a former Intercontinental, United States, and RAW Tag Team Champion, having held the latter on two occasions with long-time tag partner Brian Myers (Curt Hawkins).
