Report: IMPACT Were Interested In Buying ROH

ROH could have been a part of IMPACT

Back on March 2, 2022, AEW President Tony Khan announced live on Dynamite that he was the new owner of Ring Of Honor, heralding the beginning of a new era for the promotion.

There were plenty of parties who were interested in purchasing ROH and Sports Illustrated have reported that one company that expressed an interest were IMPACT Wrestling. What exactly IMPACT would have done with ROH is unknown.

Sports Illustrated noted the two major players for ROH were AEW's Tony Khan and WWE's Nick Khan, though, with IMPACT's interest seemingly remaining on the outskirts.

As previously noted, WWE held talks with Sinclair Broadcast Group about buying ROH in December of 2021 but talks broke down without a deal being agreed upon.

This left the door open for Tony Khan, and SI reported the AEW President vowed to buy Ring Of Honor after the promotion announced they would be going on hiatus in October 2021 and he was said to be the highest bidder once negotiations began.

A deal for ROH was expected to be completed as of mid-February and the deal was finalised only a couple of hours before Khan made the announcement on Dynamite.
