Report: IMPACT Wrestling Looking To Elevate the X-Division Championship

A heck of a Title match on IMPACT last night

IMPACT Wrestling are reportedly seeking to elevate the status of the X-Division Championship.

The X-Division Title was defended in an awesome 60-minute Iron Man Match on this week's IMPACT Wrestling, with Josh Alexander successfully defending the belt in Overtime against TJP by two falls to one.

The purpose of that match, aside from just being great, according to PWInsider, was to start a series of 'major' plans that will help to elevate the prestige of the X-Division Title.

One person has compared the plan to when Rob Van Dam was the ECW Television champion, holding the belt for 700 days, from April 4, 1998 until it was vacated on March 4, 2000 due to injury, and helped to make it been seen as important as the ECW World Championship.

It appears the hope is for IMPACT Wrestling to do the same with their X-Division Title.

The next step for the IMPACT X-Division Title appears to have been confirmed after a Five-Way Match to become the number one contender was announced for Against All Odds next weekend.
