Buddy Murphy is drawing a lot of interest from independent wrestling promoters, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

Promoters on the indy wrestling scene are said to be interested in using all of the talent let go by WWE last week, but Murphy is near the top of that list as bookers believe he could have plenty of dream matches with top indy stars.

Murphy was let go by WWE on June 2 alongside Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Santana Garrett and Ruby Riott. He had been with the company for eight years, having joined in 2013.

Murphy started out in NXT and formed a tag team with Wesley Blake. The team had a successful run on the black and gold brand, holding the NXT Tag Team Championship for 219 days in 2015. Murphy then moved to the main roster without Blake but he continued to find success, first as Cruiserweight Champion in 2018 and 2019, then as a Raw Tag Team Champion with Seth Rollins in early 2020.

Braun Strowman has also drawn interest from the independent scene, but he is currently commanding a five-figure sum for appearances.
