Report: Mark Davis Out Of Action With Torn Meniscus

Mark Davis won't be out of action for too long

Aussie Open's brief run at the top of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's tag team division came to an end on Sunday, May 21 as Kyle Fletcher announced Mark Davis was injured. As a result, Aussie Open vacated the IWGP Tag Team Titles and NJPW STRONG Tag Team Championships. New IWGP champs will be crowned at Dominion on June 4 when EVIL and Yujiro Takahashi take on Bishamon's Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI. There is no word on the STRONG Tag Team Titles.

Kyle Fletcher won't be restricted to singles matches for too long it seems as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that Mark Davis recently suffered a torn meniscus. Davis has since undergone arthroscopic surgery and he is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks

During Davis' absence, Fletcher is scheduled to continue appearing on AEW TV and he will challenge Orange Cassidy for the International Championship on the May 24 edition of Dynamite.

Davis isn't the only NJPW star out of action and it was revealed this week that Taiji Ishimori had sustained an injury which led to him being pulled from the remainder of Best of the Super Jr. 30.
