Report: Mercedes Martinez Taken To Hospital After Apparent Knock-Out On WWE NXT
Martinez was hit with a Roundhouse Kick by Xia Li
Mercedes Martinez was reportedly taken to hospital after seeming to be knocked-out during her match on Tuesday's WWE NXT.
Martinez teamed with Jake Atlas to take on Tian Sha's Xia Li and Boa in a mixed tag-team match on this week's episode of the black-and-gold brand in a continuation of her feud with the faction, but towards the climax of the match took a devastating injury.
Xia Li hit Martinez with her signature Roundhouse Kick, causing her opponent to fall to the canvas. While a glass-eyed Martinez was able to kick-out of the subsequent pin attempt, the referee called for the end of the match and shaped her arms in the 'X' that signals a legitimate injury to a talent in the ring.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Martinez was checked over backstage with talent and staff then told that she was taken to hospital to be further evaluated.
There has been no official update on Martinez's condition following the incident but suggestions are she was legitimately knocked out as a result of the kick.
