Report: Mercedes Moné In Talks With NJPW/STARDOM Over Contract Extension

Mercedes Moné could be set to stick around in NJPW/STARDOM for at least one more match

Mercedes Moné could be set to extend her run with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and STARDOM.

The final match of Moné's short-term deal with Bushiroad (NJPW & STARDOM's parent company) is set to expire following her IWGP Women's Title defence against Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM's Yokohama Arena on April 23. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, however, both sides are in talks to extend the deal for one more match.

"They are in negotiations for one more match. The final match of her current contract is the match this coming Sunday at the Yokohama Arena against Mayu [Iwatani] for the IWGP Women's Title. I do not know if the deal is done. It was not done the last I was told but she is in talks for one more date. I don't know what that date would be," Meltzer said.

Meltzer speculated another Moné match could take place at Dominion on Sunday, June 4. Moné has also teased an appearance at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 25 in Toronto, Canada.

Moné has been a part of NJPW/STARDOM since January 2023, having made her debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. The Mandalorian star defeated fellow former WWE talent KAIRI to win the IWGP Women's Championship at Battle in the Valley in February.
