It could be Rusev day again very soon, with Miro reportedly close to a WWE return.
The former WWE United States Champion departed All Elite Wrestling in February, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that Rusev’s return to WWE could happen soon, with his name being brought up in creative meetings.
Whether Rusev will come alone is another question, with Meltzer stating he wouldn’t be surprised to see CJ Perry (fka Lana) back in WWE to manage the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ despite the two getting divorced in 2024.
Last wrestling at AEW Worlds End in December 2023 under the Miro gimmick, Miro spent all of 2024 on the sidelines, with some reports suggesting that Miro and AEW creative had frequent disagreements, with Miro requesting his release during the year. He received his release from AEW alongside Ricky Starks, while Malakai Black also exited AEW upon the expiration of his contract. Starks has since arrived on WWE NXT TV on February 11, whilst Black is also expected to make his WWE return soon.
In WWE, Rusev is a three-time US Champion, and he had one run with the TNT Championship during his time in AEW.
