Report: MJF 'Leaning Towards Leaving AEW'

Will MJF leave AEW in 2024?

Back in April, it emerged that Tony Khan and MJF had become frustrated with each other and they had a 'heated discussion' after MJF set up an interview with Ariel Helwani without giving prior notice to All Elite Wrestling's PR team. The AEW President's frustrations stemmed from MJF not using the PR department as opposed to anything Friedman said in the heated discussion, while The Salt Of The Earth was unhappy with his AEW contract.

Khan and MJF had a follow-up conversation that went 'much smoother' soon after, but Friedman's frustrations with his AEW deal remain.

Although both men spoke about their issues, 'that sentiment hasn't necessarily lasted with MJF', according to Fightful Select and Friedman is currently 'leaning towards leaving AEW' when his contract expires in 2024. The AEW star hasn't 100 percent decided he will depart the promotion but he has considered the possibility of joining WWE.

MJF's frustrations with his AEW contract stem from the pay scale and a possible extension has been mentioned although many don't think the two sides are as close to a deal as they were before their conversation in April. If a new deal would involve an extension or simply MJF's current deal being renegotiated is currently unknown.

MJF has been a featured performer in All Elite Wrestling since the promotion's inaugural show in 2019 and he has had memorable programmes with the likes of Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Chris Jericho. Friedman is currently feuding with his former muscle Wardlow and they will go one-on-one at the May 29 Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.
