Report: New Date For WWE Money In The Bank 2021 Revealed

The pay-per-view returns to the summer

Ahead of WrestleMania 37, reports noted WWE's next pay-per-views would be Money In The Bank on May 16 and Backlash on June 20.

Those plans ultimately changed, however, and WWE announced during The Showcase Of The Immortals that the next pay-per-view would be WrestleMania Backlash on May 16, a show which is expected to feature multiple rematches from The Granddaddy Of Them All.

With Backlash having been brought forward, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE has simply switched the dates and Money In the Bank will now take place on June 20.

Money In The Bank has taken place straight after WrestleMania in recent years, but the show was broadcast in June from 2014 until 2018 and WWE has ultimately opted to move the pay-per-view back to the Summer.

Who will walk away with a guaranteed title shot ultimately remains to be seen, but the Money In The Bank briefcase holders have had mixed success over the past few years. Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Asuka, Brock Lesnar and The Miz have all turned the briefcase into championship gold since 2018. Braun Strowman and Otis failed miserably, however, and the former Heavy Machinery man didn't even get the chance to cash in the briefcase before he dropped it to The Miz at Hell In A Cell 2020.
