Report: New WWE NXT Show In The Works

"An NXT For NXT"...

According to Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc., a new WWE NXT programme is in the works. The show has been described as an "NXT for NXT" and will reportedly be a minor league system for the black and gold brand.

Triple H recently established a team to oversee the new show, which is being led by former EVOLVE owner Gabe Sapolsky. The team consists of several backstage producers and writers who will help Sapolsky become more comfortable with writing a TV show.

The Game is reportedly a "big believer" in the former ROH booker and this new show is said to be Triple H "giving him the ball." Sapolsky started working as a consultant for WWE in 2018 and saw an increase in influence on the black and gold brand earlier this year.

The original idea was to establish a developmental league for NXT and run shows in smaller tier markets, but as house shows are unlikely to return even after the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to just develop a new TV show. The company was aiming to launch the series in early 2021, but it is likely to be delayed.

Initial reports of a developmental NXT show first emerged back in October and plans were in place to use unused NXT Superstars and recent signings from EVOLVE on the programme.
