Cameron Grimes was written off WWE TV on last week's episode of NXT. Following interference from Timothy Thatcher during his match with Tommaso Ciampa, Grimes confronted The British Messiah who proceeded to grab and twist his leg. The Technical Savage immediately collapsed to the floor in pain and writhed around at ringside.

WWE later confirmed Grimes would be on the shelf for four to six weeks.

Following the announcement, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported Grimes underwent surgery last week and will be out of action until he is medically cleared to return.

More details on Grimes' surgery have now been reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The three-time X Division Champion's procedure was believed to be arthroscopic knee surgery. Grimes didn't suffer the injury during a recent match, but his knee had been bothering him as of late and the decision was made to have surgery before it got any worse.

Before his injury, Grimes had been locked in a feud with Dexter Lumis. The Tortured Artist won the rivalry overall after picking up the victory in their final encounter at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.
