Report: New WWE Regime Weren't Interested In Signing Velveteen Dream Even Before Recent Arrests

A new report suggests WWE had no desire to bring Velveteen Dream back prior to his recent arrests

A new report has suggested that WWE had no interest in rehiring Patrick Clark, AKA Velveteen Dream, even before his recent legal issues.

Clark has been arrested three times within the past year, including twice in the space of six days in August, and is due to be arraigned next week in relation to his August 26 arrest for a probation violation.

Fightful Select have reported that WWE didn't intend to bring Clark back even before the arrests, with one source going as far to say doing so would be a 'public relations nightmare' that the new regime want no part of.

The report further noted Clark already had major backstage heat on him by the time he stopped appearing on NXT TV and that he had become a 'headache' to deal with (according to one NXT coach). It added that he had been spoken to several times about his generally 'unusual' behaviour at the WWE Performance Center.

Clark was released by the company on May 20, 2021, and has not wrestled since.
