Report: NJPW Turned Down Deal With VICE TV

NJPW agreed a deal with Roku instead

Major League Wrestling announced earlier this week that they would be coming to VICE TV sometime this spring. No premiere date has been announced as of yet and if the company will keep the "Fusion' name for their weekly series is currently unknown.

VICE TV has enjoyed enormous success with their professional wrestling content so far, particularly Dark Side Of The Ring.

MLW seemingly wasn't the only promotion VICE TV was looking to feature on their channel. According to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, New Japan Pro-Wrestling was offered a similar deal to what MLW agreed to but the Japanese company turned down the offer last year.

NJPW ultimately signed a deal with The Roku Channel for a one-hour weekly series earlier this year and matches from 2020 have been airing on the channel since February 11. The deal wasn't exclusive, though, and NJPW has reportedly continued to negotiate with multiple TV networks, including AXS TV. NJPW content previously aired on AXS TV in the United States until the deal was terminated early in late 2019.
