Report: No Target Date For CM Punk's AEW Return

CM Punk will be back when he's ready

When CM Punk will return to All Elite Wrestling is up in the air.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that "there is no target date or anything like that" when it comes to Punk's return. The Second City Saviour sustained a broken foot on the June 1 episode of Dynamite and Max Caster even mentioned during his pre-match rap this week that he broke Punk's foot. AEW announced on Wednesday's show that Punk had successfully undergone surgery on his "lower leg."

For a broken foot, most fractures heal within six weeks but it could take anywhere from three to six months before all symptoms subside, which include discomfort, stiffness, swelling, and decreased strength.

Punk remains AEW World Champion as Tony Khan did not allow him to vacate the title. An Interim AEW World Champion will be crowned at Forbidden Door on June 26 when Jon Moxley faces the winner of Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hirooki Goto from NJPW Dominion on June 12.

Punk will then face the interim champion when he returns from injury.
