Report: NXT Name Backstage At WWE SmackDown
An NXT wrestler was backstage at SmackDown
There were a few interesting names backstage at SmackDown from Madison Square Garden outside of the obvious headline-makers like Vince McMahon. One unexpected name was an NXT superstar, whose presence was reported by PWInsider.
“WWE NXT star Trick Williams is backstage at tonight's Friday Night Smackdown at Madison Square Garden.”
Williams never ended up appearing on the show. He recently did make his presence known on SmackDown when he was alongside NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, who is currently feuding with Baron Corbin, but aside from that there have been no inklings at all of a main roster call-up. The reason for his presence backstage is unknown, and whether it means a call-up is incoming is unclear.
PWInsider would also note that there were other stars at the taping but not used, including the likes of Rey Mysterio, Cameron Grimes, Liv Morgan, Street Profits, and more. Perhaps the most intriguing out of the current main roster members who were there was Bobby Lashley, who hasn’t competed on WWE programming for around two months.
