Last weekend's TNA show, Final Resolution 2024, saw the surprise return of Tessa Blanchard to the promotion.

In early 2020, shortly before and after Blanchard became the first ever female world champion in company history, allegations of backstage bullying and racism emerged. She was subsequently released and stripped of the world title by TNA shortly before her contract was due to expire.

Tessa's return last weekend saw her interfere in a match between Rosemary and Jordynne Grace, the latter of whom is widely believed to be heading to WWE in the new year. The two companies have enjoyed a working relationship in recent times, something which could be crucial to the Blanchard situation.

Blanchard's return to TNA was addressed on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio and Dave Meltzer offered a surprising reason for Tessa's return, explaining:

"It's a really weird story, but it could just be a favour for WWE. [...] I mean the idea is - if she's in TNA for a while and there's no big backlash or anything - they could bring her into WWE because there's women in WWE who want to work with her. There may be some who don't, but I know there are some who do, and she's very controversial for all the reasons everybody knows, and it's kind of like a test thing."
