Report: Planned AEW Title Match Revealed

Details on a planned AEW title match below!

Plans for an upcoming title match in All Elite Wrestling have been revealed.

Hikaru Shida is the reigning AEW Women's World Champion, with the two-time champ set to defend the gold in a Four-Way at All In against Britt Baker, Saraya, and Toni Storm. Former AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa won't be back in time for All In but AEW are already putting together plans for La Mera Mera.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Thunder Rosa is scheduled to challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship "very quickly" after she is cleared to make her in-ring return. The thinking behind the title match is that Rosa never lost the AEW Women's Title when she was forced to step away from AEW programming in August 2022 due to a serious back injury.

Rosa has been out of action for the past year with the back injury, although AEW doctor Michael "Doc" Sampson recently revealed that Rosa could be cleared for in-ring action in as little as three weeks. Plans at the time called for her to have a five-minute mini-match at the AEW Dynamite taping in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 16. It is unknown if the match took place.

Thunder Rosa will still be flying to London, England for AEW All In. She is scheduled to be part of the Spanish-language commentary team, a role she has held for much of 2023.
