A planned match at the joint AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on Sunday, June 25 is likely to be delayed.

A clash between FTR and Aussie Open at Forbidden Door was teased earlier this year and Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match was planned for the pay-per-view. Mark Davis recently underwent surgery on a torn meniscus, however, that will likely keep him out of action for six to eight weeks, beyond June 25.

"The way the timeline looks, unless somehow he's back in a miraculous amount of time from the surgery, the FTR and Aussie Open match won't make Forbidden Door. Maybe, you know, that could easily go to Wembley. I mean, In fact, now that I think about it, I think that's a great idea for Wembley [All In]. Originally, all signs led to Aussie Open vs. FTR for Forbidden Door. It doesn't look like Davis will make it for Forbidden Door," said Meltzer.

FTR are the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions, having defeated The Gunns for the gold on the April 5 edition of Dynamite. Aussie Open have primarily wrestled in NJPW and they were the IWGP Tag Team Champions and NJPW STRONG Tag Team Champions but the belts were vacated on May 21 due to Davis' injury. It was announced on the May 24 episode of Dynamite that Davis and Fletcher had signed with AEW.
