Report: Plans Revealed For Mercedes Moné's Return?

Mercedes Moné looks to pick up from where she left off when she returns

Mercedes Moné has been out of action ever since an ill-timed injury during her match with Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence 2023 when the pair fought for the brand-new NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. Due to the injury, a call was made on the fly for Nightingale to pick up the win due to Moné needing time away to heal.

Since then, Giulia has emerged as the new NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, defeating Nightingale at NJPW Strong Independence Day to win the gold. Per a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Giulia could very well keep the belt until Moné returns.

“Even people who you would think need to know don’t know the exact time line for a Mercedes Moné return. The plan right now is that when she returns, that she will face Giulia for the New Japan Strong title.”

As noted, there is still no timeline on her return, but given that the plan was for Moné to be the inaugural champion, it seems only natural that she will gun for the title whenever it is that she eventually makes a comeback.
