Report: Reason For WWE Airing SmackDown Entrances On Social Media

WWE aired some entrances on social media before SmackDown started this week

This past episode of Friday Night SmackDown on May 12 saw WWE do something that they don’t usually do. The show began with AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio already in the ring ahead of their triple threat match with Edge in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament. The reason for doing this has been revealed in a report from Fightful Select

“We're told that WWE's new method of going live on social media a couple of minutes before the show was to serve as an active reminder that the show was starting.”

The likes of AEW have been known to share entrances on social media before shows start, with this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite being an example of this, with Claudio Castagnoli and Rey Fenix already being in the ring ahead of their opening match, though when AEW does it, it seems to be more to pack more stuff into each event. It remains to be seen if WWE will continue doing this in the future.
