Report: Reason WWE Pulled Edge Vs. Finn Balor From Royal Rumble Revealed

Edge vs. Finn Balor was originally planned for WWE Royal Rumble 2023

Issues between Edge and Judgment Day are set to continue after the ‘Rated R Superstar’ eliminated Damian Priest and Finn Balor from the Royal Rumble, and brawled with the faction at the PPV and the next night on WWE Raw.

Originally, Edge and Balor were meant to go one-on-one inside Hell in a Cell at the Rumble, but the match never made it past the planning stage. A new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that the match never went ahead due to Edge taking time off to film the Percy Jackson and The Olympian Disney+ series.

Edge will play Greek God of War Ares in the latest adaptation of Percy Jackson, and due to scheduling conflicts, the multi-time world champion wouldn’t have been able to make Raw appearances to build a Cell match with Balor for the Rumble PPV. Filming on the series recently wrapped, hence Edge’s inclusion in the Royal Rumble match and appearance on the subsequent episode of RAW.
