Report: Santana & Ortiz's Social Media Exchange Not Part Of A Storyline

Santana and Ortiz's heat is genuine

Proud & Powerful was officially disbanded on Saturday's AEW Collision as Santana announced he was going to be a singles talent moving forward.

This caused a Twitter spat between Santana and Ortiz, with Ortiz writing on Twitter/X: "What a way to find out years of having your back meant nothing. Good luck without your ‘crutch’. Just remember it helped you walk for the last 14+ years. Hope your legs are good. Thank you for being honest for once. But you couldn't say it to my face? You know you still can, right?"

This prompted a brief back and forth as Santana replied: "...First thing you said to me in 14 months. no text, no call. No, I hope your recovery has gone well, but of course, paint me to be the bad guy like you’ve always done. Guess you forgot about our last conversation about this. Either way, I’m happy I hope and pray the same for you."

Some speculated the Twitter exchange was storyline-related but Haus of Wrestling has reported the spat was genuine and not part of any planned storyline between the former tag team partners.

It emerged in 2022 that Santana and Ortiz had a falling out over their booking in All Elite Wrestling. The pair had been booked in singles matches on the indies and their only matches together on AEW TV came in multi-man matches. This includes when they returned to AEW in August when Santana and Ortiz were involved in the Stadium Stampede Match at All In.

Santana had been out of action between June 2022 and August 2023 due to a serious knee injury.
