Report: Santana Garrett Was Slated To Debut On SmackDown Prior To WWE Release
Her debut just never made it to TV
Jun 3, 2021
Santana Garrett was slated to debut on Friday Night SmackDown prior to her WWE release, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
Similar to the recently released Vanessa Borne, Garrett had been called up to the main roster but she had been waiting for WWE to factor her debut into storylines on the blue brand. WWE ultimately never did so and The Midwest Sweetheart was let go yesterday along with Braun Strowman, Lana, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott and Murphy.
Chelsea Green previously revealed one of the plans for Garrett on the main roster would have seen her form a "Pussycat Dolls meets Charlie's Angels" faction with The Hot Mess and Vanessa Borne. The idea was ultimately scrapped before it could make its way to TV, though.
Garrett signed with WWE back in August 2019. She made a handful of appearances in NXT and even competed on the post-WrestleMania 36 edition of Raw against Bianca Belair, but she disappeared from TV completely following The Great American Bash in July 2020. She briefly resurfaced as an entrant in the Women's Royal Rumble earlier this year, but didn't appear on TV again before her release.
