Report: Scrapped WWE Raw Main Event Plans Revealed

A different match was discussed for the WWE Raw main event

WWE originally had different plans for the main event of Monday's episode of Raw.

This week's show emanated from St. Paul, Minnesota on October 3 and Raw was main evented by Alexa Bliss vs. IYO SKY. Both competitors fought back and forth for eight minutes before SKY picked up the win with a Moonsault following interference from her Damage CTRL faction-mates Bayley and Dakota Kai.

That wasn't what WWE originally had in mind, though. According to Fightful Select, AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio vs. Finn Balor and Damian Priest of Judgment Day was discussed for the main event slot before the company opted to go with Bliss vs. SKY.

The tag team match instead opened Raw and the heel faction picked up the win following a Coup de Grace to Styles. Rey Mysterio then apologised to The Phenomenal One after the match but Styles pushed him to the mat, causing Rey to walk out on his tag team partner.

This ultimately left Styles vulnerable to a post-match attack from Judgment Day and Finn Balor and co. ended the segment standing tall following a beatdown.
