Wrestlers signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling often have their contracts expiring early in the year and that is the case once again, with a number of NJPW contracts expiring in January 2025.
Fightful Select has reported that as of early February, a number of NJPW talents had not been signed to new contracts but they have continued working for the promotion. The likes of Gabe Kidd, Zack Sabre Jr., David Finlay, and Kevin Knight all had expiring contracts and it is unknown if any of them have since re-signed with New Japan.
Regardless of a contract being signed, though, Kidd, Sabre, and Finlay won't be leaving NJPW in the near future as they have all been announced for March's New Japan Cup.
The delay in re-signing wrestlers is because "things progressed slowly in January towards new deals", according to Fightful. Talent with expiring contracts have been in contact with NJPW, though.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling's next major event will be the 53rd Anniversary show on March 6. New IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto will defend the title against Hiroshi Tanahashi, while Chris Charlton will also return to commentary following his suspension.
