Report: The Rock Pitched To Wrestle WWE's Roman Reigns In 2022

Will The Big Dog go one on one with The Great One...

After Roman Reigns debuted his new Tribal Chief character earlier this year, many wondered if his family-orientated gimmick would lead to a match with The Rock. The Brahma Bull himself has even said he would be honoured to face his cousin at The Showcase Of The Immortals.

A recent report from WrestlingNews.co noted The Rock vs. Roman Reigns wouldn't be happening at WrestleMania 37. Vince McMahon prefers to delay the match until WrestleMania 38 as he wants the bout to take place in front of a capacity crowd in Los Angeles, which is unlikely to be possible by March 2021.

Dave Meltzer also noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Rock vs. Reigns isn't scheduled for 'Mania and the WWE creative team has been told The Great One is a "no go" for The Show Of Shows. The Rock has pitched to do the match with Reigns in 2022, though, when he would be 49.

Meltzer added that the timing of Rock's return ultimately comes down to the Hollywood star. If he suddenly decides he wants to face Reigns at WrestleMania 37, WWE will alter their plans.
