Report: Update On AEW's Plans For CM Punk

CM Punk may not be on AEW Dynamite very much

It was revealed on Thursday, April 13 that tentative plans had been made for CM Punk to return to All Elite Wrestling at or around the June 21 edition of Dynamite from Chicago's Wintrust Arena. Those plans were not set in stone, though, as the situation is said to be tumultuous.

Punk ultimately has issues within the AEW locker room but the 44-year-old has been pushing for a meeting with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, while a meeting between Chris Jericho and Punk had been planned. The issues ultimately stem from Punk's post-All Out rant about the AEW EVPs, Hangman Page, and Colt Cabana and the backstage brawl that followed between Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite. Punk then took shots at Jon Moxley, AEW, Dave Meltzer, and Chris Jericho in an Instagram post in late March.

In an update, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Punk's return to AEW is "largely expected" but the issues within the locker room "have not been settled at all." AEW's plans for Punk will ultimately revolve around the rumoured third TV show on Saturday nights, with the "working idea" being the two-time AEW World Champion will be the star of that series. AEW will also largely split the roster when the new show premieres to avoid locker room problems.

Punk has been a part of AEW since August 2021. He is a two-time AEW World Champion.
