Goldberg has officially retired… but could he come out of retirement to redo his send-off this time in an All Elite Wrestling ring?
The WCW legend lost his final bout against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL on July 12, but has made his disappointment with the occasion well known.
Despite having once labelled AEW as ‘cheesy’, Goldberg has spoken with the company in the past about potentially coming in, with former AEW World Champion MJF recently stating he’d like to wrestle Goldberg in an AEW ring. However, per a report from WrestleVotes Radio, don’t expect to see ‘Da Man’ in an AEW ring any time soon:
“After speaking with sources in AEW, we’re told there doesn’t appear to be any direct connection between the company and Goldberg at this time. One source noted it would genuinely surprise them if AEW moved in that direction for a match, especially considering its good grace standing with the fans after the successful All In pay-per-view last weekend. It is also believed Goldberg is still under contract with WWE, which would prevent any communication from happening in the first place at this time.”
So Goldberg remains retired… for now anyway. You can never say never in professional wrestling after all.
