Report: Update On Plans For Vince McMahon At WWE WrestleMania

Vince McMahon WrestleMania plans possibly revealed

Vince McMahon hasn't performed inside the squared circle since WrestleMania 26 when he went one-on-one with Bret Hart.

The WWE chairman was reportedly scheduled to return to the ring this year at WrestleMania 38, though, for a match with SmackDown Commentator Pat McAfee, but plans were changed and Austin Theory will take on the former NFL punter instead.

Despite McMahon not wrestling at The Showcase Of The Immortals, Vince "is still the heat of the match", Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported. An angle will be used for McMahon to get involved in the match, either overseeing the contest, being at ringside, or possibly even making Theory vs. McAfee a Handicap Match with Vince on the side of his protege.

Why the originally planned McMahon vs. McAfee was scrapped is currently unknown but Meltzer wrote: "McMahon evidently had second thoughts about advertising himself vs. McAfee when they couldn't deliver without all smoke and mirrors."

In other major matches scheduled for WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar will face Roman Reigns, while Ronda Rousey will take on Charlotte Flair. Several unannounced matches are also listed on the internal WrestleMania card
