Report: Update On Possible Talent Cuts Following WWE-UFC Merger

Latest on possible WWE releases

The future of WWE was dramatically changed in early April after it was announced that the company had been sold to Endeavor. WWE will merge with UFC under a new parent company led by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel later this year, while Vince McMahon will be the Executive Chairman of the new parent company.

With a merger often comes cuts but Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE haven't discussed making any cutbacks to the talent roster.

Following a question about if WWE might release Drew McIntyre, Meltzer said: "I would doubt it, but it's always a possibility. They haven't talked about doing cuts with talent. They haven't really said. They've said production, and they've said creative there's gonna be no cuts. There's gonna be lots of cuts in office people. I don't anticipate cuts with talent. I don't think with Drew. I'm going to say no."

Nick Khan has previously said there will be "aggressive" cutbacks after the WWE-UFC merger is completed but the cuts won't affect the TV product. This didn't stop concern about releases from spreading through the WWE roster after the interview.
