Report: Update On When CM Punk Could Return To AEW

When could CM Punk be back in AEW?

A potential return to All Elite Wrestling for CM Punk is closer than initially believed.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, CM Punk will be "available" to make an AEW return from his torn triceps in a couple of months.

"They are lacking in that babyface position something fierce. They had a shot with MJF, obviously they did the double-cross on that. And MJF was great as a heel tonight, but they don't have 'the guy.' Punk's not gonna be the guy either. I know some people might say, 'Well Punk's coming back'...Punk may come back. He will be available to come back if they want to use him in a couple of months. It's not like it's so far in the future. And of course, if they were to bring Punk back, that opens up a lot of other issues that we can talk about another day," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

CM Punk has been gone from AEW since the infamous backstage fight between himself, Ace Steel, and The Elite following All Out in September 2022. The fight occurred after Punk took shots at Colt Cabana, The Elite, and Hangman Page during his post-All Out press conference.

As of late 2022, AEW and Punk were in talks over a contract buyout but the 44-year-old appeared to be open to a return in more recent social media posts. The most recent reports stated Punk had been "put on ice" by Tony Khan for the time being.
