Report: Update On WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Location

A Royal Rumble deep in the heart of...

WWE are looking to return to a familiar location for the 2023 edition of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

The word inside WWE headquarters over the past week, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, is that the company are looking to hold Royal Rumble 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Royal Rumble has taken place in San Antonio three times before in 1997, 2007, and 2017. Two of those shows took place in the 64,000-seat Alamodome while the 2007 edition was held at the AT&T Center.

Hometown hero Shawn Michaels was heavily involved at the 1997 and 2007 shows, first defeating Sid for the WWE Title in 1997 before he was eliminated last in the 2007 Royal Rumble by The Undertaker.

The 2017 Royal Rumble was won by Randy Orton and headline matches included AJ Styles vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship, Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Title, and Neville vs. Rich Swann for the Cruiserweight Title.

Before the 2023 Royal Rumble, WWE will hold their Day 1 pay-per-view on January 1 in Atlanta, Georgia.
