Report: Update On WWE's Blood Policy Following Backlash

Could we see more blood on WWE TV?

There was a rare occurrence at WWE's Backlash pay-per-view on May 6 as Brock Lesnar was busted open after his head bounced off an exposed turnbuckle during his main event match with Cody Rhodes. Lesnar getting colour was reportedly planned and while he wasn't allowed to blade as the practice remains banned within WWE, the company did allow him to be cut hard-way.

Despite Lesnar bleeding at Backlash, the company's overall policy has not changed and the former WWE Champion was granted permission to be busted open at the pay-per-view simply because he is Brock Lesnar, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio.

"It's unusual if it's anyone else, and you've seen with Finn Balor... the difference is that with Finn Balor it was an accident, but this was part of the show. Brock Lesnar has different rules than everybody else and if Brock Lesnar wants colour... we've seen it how many times on PPVs? Probably half a dozen times. Maybe more. If Brock Lesnar wants to do colour, Brock Lesnar can do colour. Everybody else might get in trouble for it but he has different rules. It's crazy because if Brock Lesnar insists on getting colour, they might as well let him blade rather than risk concussion or something dangerous by running his head into a metal buckle as hard as he can to split his head open," Meltzer said.

Brock Lesnar would ultimately lose to Cody Rhodes at Backlash after the American Nightmare rolled a Kimura Lock into a pin for the victory. The two competitors will face off again at Night of Champions.
