Report: Vince McMahon Didn't Understand Murphy & Aleister Black's Wrestling Style

Not to McMahon's taste

Aleister Black and Murphy were released by WWE earlier this week and Vince McMahon not understanding their style of wrestling contributed to his decision to release them, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Budget cuts were cited as the official reason for the releases, but the Superstars were let go by WWE because Vince McMahon reportedly decided he had nothing for them. Murphy and Black ultimately fell into this category, partly because the boss didn't understand their in-ring style.

Black was also said to have had issues with WWE's writing team, but this wasn't the main factor in his release.

Aleister Black signed with WWE back in 2016 and he leaves the company after five years as a former NXT Champion and the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner with Ricochet.

Murphy joined WWE in 2013. He held the NXT Tag Team Championship for 219 days with Wesley Blake in 2015. He then moved to the main roster and finished up his time with the company as a former Raw Tag Team Champion and Cruiserweight Champion.
