Report: Vince McMahon's Involvement With First WWE NXT 2.0 Broadcast Revealed

How involved was Vince?

WWE relaunched their developmental brand on September 14 and NXT will be known as NXT 2.0 going forward. Several developmental talents made their debuts on the Tuesday night show and the September 14 episode took place on a new set with new purple and pink lighting.

Ahead of the relaunch, reports noted that Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard would be making the "big decisions" around the direction, marketing and promotion of NXT going forward. Kevin Dunn was then in attendance for the first NXT 2.0 episode to personally oversee the broadcast.

While the new era of NXT may have begun, some of the old remains and Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Shawn Michaels was running the show. Neither Vince McMahon nor Bruce Prichard were backstage but Vince did review the script and he was involved with the September 14 episode's creative. Triple H was not backstage as he is currently recuperating after a cardiac event.

"Shawn Michaels was running the show because Triple H was obviously not back. Probably won't be back for a while. So Shawn was running it, Kevin Dunn was there. No Vince, no Prichard... Vince did review the script of the show. He was involved in the creative of this show, but not there and he was not the key guy or anything like that," Meltzer said.
