Report: WarnerMedia, TNT Operating As Though CM Punk Is Coming To AEW

"The First Dance" emanates from Chicago on Friday

With many signs pointing toward CM Punk making his debut on Friday night's "First Dance" episode of AEW Rampage in Chicago, officials at WarnerMedia and TNT appear to be laboring under the assumption that Punk is on his way.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, multiple people with both WarnerMedia and TNT are excited about the apparent impending arrival of Punk, to the point where "their promotional machine" will be behind Punk upon his comeback.

While details of what exactly that means aren't known, there is a high level of awareness among the network and parent company of what is coming regarding Punk in to AEW.

The report goes on to state that WarnerMedia and TNT personnel were rather impressed with the way AEW was able to move lots of tickets to four shows in the same market over a compressed time frame (Chicago on Friday, and then three shows the first week of September, including All Out).

Punk last appeared for a major wrestling organization at the 2014 Royal Rumble. He walked out of WWE the following day, due to a number of issues, and was formally released from WWE that June.
