Report: Why Matt Hardy & Randy Orton's No Holds Barred Match Didn't Happen On WWE Raw Revealed
Vince McMahon...
Feb 19, 2020
Ahead of this week's WWE Raw, a No Holds Barred match between Matt Hardy and Randy Orton was advertised.
However, with The Viper in the ring at the start of the show, Hardy came down and was attacked with a chair for a second week in a row. Orton also got the ringside steps involved as the advertised match between the pair didn't take place.
Per a report from
Fightful, the reason for this is down to Vince McMahon himself changing up the script for Raw shortly before the show started. There is no word as to why Vince made this call although the quarter-hour ratings from the previous week's segment played their part.
It is also being reported that Monday's Raw was Hardy's last televised outing for WWE. Hardy himself tweeted "goodbye" following Orton's first attack last week, making the advertised match and appearance from him on this week's red brand show a bit of a surprise.
The former Woken/Broken Matt fuelled more rumour and innuendo surrounding a potential move to AEW with another tweet posted last night: "
Against Every Warning, with serious head/neck injuries, I showed up on
#RAW
to face & fight RKO. I was brutally beaten & suffered multiple injuries. But I’m alive. I’m not sure what’s next. If this was my
@WWE
goodbye, I didn’t get what I deserved-But maybe I got what I needed."
Notice the three capitalised words at the start of the tweet...
