Report: Why WWE NXT Is Moving To Tuesday Nights

The switch is reportedly a 'done deal'

NXT's reported move from a Wednesday broadcast to a Tuesday show is apparently a 'done deal' and has been instigated due to a change in programming by the USA Network.

WWE's black-and-gold brand is reportedly set to move back one day in the weekly television schedule the week following WrestleMania 37, with the first Tuesday night episode pencilled in for April 13.

According to Bryan Alvarez, the decision to have NXT move is one that was done internally by the USA Network and is a 'done deal'. He reports that the change is happening because of NBCUniversal's move to shut down their NBC Sports Network which, in turn, will see the National Hockey League picked up and shown by the USA Network.

The NHL programming will be shown on Wednesday evenings, hence the requirement to swap when NXT is broadcast. The NHL programme will generate a higher audience share on a Wednesday evening for USA Network and therefore a higher advertising revenue.

Neither WWE or USA Network have yet confirmed that NXT will be switching to a Tuesday night broadcast.
