Report: Will Ospreay Injured At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14

During his match with Hiromu Takahashi...

At Wrestle Kingdom 14, Will Ospreay defended his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Hiromu Takahashi. The match was widely praised on social media as fans found themselves in awe at the in-ring action.

Ospreay did not leave the match unscathed, however, as he picked up a heel injury during an exchange with Takahashi. As the challenger was outside the ring, The Ariel Assassin failed to connect with the Space Flying Tiger Drop as the member of LIJ countered with a German Suplex. Ospreay landed on his feet, however, and charged at Takahashi, only to be thrown into the ring. The champion then quickly recovered and finally delivered the Space Flying Tiger Drop to his opponent.

Ultimately, Ospreay was able to continue with the match but lost his Championship after Hiromu delivered a new version of the Time Bomb and pinned him for the 1-2-3.

Shortly after the contest, the former champion posted a picture on Twitter of him lay on a sofa with his foot on a bed of ice. While the severity of the injury is not currently known, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Online that Ospreay will undergo x-rays to determine whether he will have to spend any time on the sidelines.
