Report: William Regal Finalising WWE Return

William Regal on his way back to WWE

William Regal's return to WWE is almost complete.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Regal is currently finalising a new deal with WWE and he is expected to start with the company after the new year. Regal is returning to WWE in a backstage role.

This comes after it emerged Regal was "effectively done" in All Elite Wrestling with his contract set to expire in December. The Gentleman Villain was written off AEW programming on the November 30 edition of Dynamite after he was attacked by MJF with a pair of brass knuckles. Regal was later shown leaving the venue in an ambulance.

According to recent reports, Regal's departure will set up an AEW World Title programme between MJF and Bryan Danielson.

Regal previously worked for WWE for 22 years before his release in January 2022. His release came at a time when Triple H was out of power in the company but The Game has since become Chief Content Officer following Vince McMahon's retirement in July.

During his later years in WWE, Regal was a close confidante of Triple H's as the Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting.
