Report: WWE Attempting To Make SummerSlam A WrestleMania-worthy Event

A show on the scale of The Showcase Of The Immortals

WWE is attempting to make SummerSlam a WrestleMania-worthy event, according to a report from WrestleVotes

They tweeted: "After speaking to a few sources on the topic, I've learned that WWE is 100% attempting to make SummerSlam this year's WrestleMania. 'All resources will be tapped into' is how it was explained to me. I do believe they want Reigns v Cena to headline. Not sure if they've decided."

This year's edition is already scheduled to be the biggest SummerSlam since 1992, with the show set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 21.

The company is also planning to bring out the big guns for The Biggest Party Of The Summer and a Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and John Cena is reportedly being targeted as the main event of the show.

Past reports have noted "all of the big names that make sense" will be involved with SummerSlam and Brock Lesnar's return was brought up during early planning for the event. The Beast Incarnate vs. Bobby Lashley wasn't on the card as of late May, though.
