WWE are reportedly trying to retain Xavier Woods to a different type of contract that would keep him signed with the company on a deal where he would continue to be linked with the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel.

That is according to Bryan Alvarez, who said on Wrestling Observer Live:

"Obviously, the immediate thought is they're going to AEW. They're gonna feud with the Young Bucks and whoever else. That is very possible. I want to make it clear that I'm not saying that's not going to happen or anything of that nature, but I will say, and I've heard this from a lot, a lot, a lot of people this weekend, that I do believe that WWE is trying to retain Woods with, as it was referred to repeatedly, 'the Tyler Breeze deal.' Which is basically he gets paid money to do stuff for the video game. I don't know if he will accept that offer. I don't know what's going on in his head, but he might. It's not a foregone conclusion that both of the New Day are going to AEW. It's likely going to happen, I would say, but there are things being done where WWE is trying to retain him for other things."

Tyler Breeze's contract with WWE sees the former NXT Tag Team Champion be specifically attached to the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel. He is allowed to wrestle on the independent wrestling scene but Breeze is banned from appearing on AEW programming.

The UpUpDownDown YouTube channel was launched in 2015 with Xavier Woods as the face of the channel, although it has always been owned by WWE.

It emerged on Saturday, May 2 that the New Day of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston had been granted their releases by WWE. This came after WWE approached the tag team about pay cuts, which Woods and Kingston turned down, and they instead asked for their releases.

The New Day are subject to 90-day non-compete clauses. There is already interest from All Elite Wrestling, and multiple major names in the promotion are said to be pushing for the tag team to be signed when they become available.
