Report: WWE Changed Bad Blood Finish Due To Botch
WWE had to change a match finish on the fly at Bad Blood
Oct 6, 2024
Fans will have noticed quite an awkward moment in the final minute or so of the Bad Blood match between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, which saw Raquel Rodriguez return to WWE after nearly 8 months on the shelf, attacking Ripley and marking a heel turn. When she attacked Ripley, it seems the spot was mistimed, as the referee inadvertently saw everything she did - attacking Ripley outside of the ring and hitting her finisher inside the ring too.
At first, the referee attempted to simply look in the opposite direction, but on the fly it was deemed that they had no choice but to change the finish and call for a disqualification, handing Ripley the victory. Rodriguez attempted to place Morgan on top of Ripley for the pinfall after the bell had sounded, leading to a clumsily looking moment of Rodriguez then taking Morgan off Ripley and celebrating instead.
It is noted by Fightful Select that the original finish was in fact Morgan winning the match thanks to Rodriguez’s help, but ultimately the referee watched everything unfold so couldn’t not end the match then and there. It was reported last month that talks were underway to pitch creative plans for Rodriguez’s return to TV.
