Report: WWE Considering Using Outside Talent On NXT

Similar to Samoa Joe, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano

Could some top independent wrestling talent show up on WWE NXT in the near future?

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE are considering bringing in talent from outside of the company to work with developmental talents on the Tuesday night show.

The plan would be to sign the indy wrestlers to non-exclusive six-week deals that would allow them to continue working outside of the company and they would be used similarly to Samoa Joe, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa before they signed exclusive contracts with WWE.

That isn't the only change WWE are considering making to NXT, though.

Meltzer further noted there have been talks within the company about resuming NXT house shows. WWE management reportedly don't believe developmental talents can have enough matches just working on TV to make adequate progress inside the ring, and with the key focus of NXT now being back on talent development, live events would be an easy way to provide wrestlers with more ring time.
