Report: WWE Discusses William Regal's Return

William Regal left WWE earlier this year

WWE held their first ever main roster WarGames matches over the weekend, with Survivor Series hosting the double ring cage after several years of it being an NXT institution.

For many, WarGames is synonymous with former NXT General Manager William Regal screaming ‘WARGAMES’ at the top of his lungs, with Triple H even tweeting about Regal ahead of Survivor Series, despite Regal now being part of AEW.

Triple H’s tweet got fans talking about the possibility of Regal returning to WWE, especially after Regal was seemingly written off of AEW TV after betraying Jon Moxley at Full Gear. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the possibility of a Regal WWE return on Wrestling Observer Radio, with Meltzer saying the following:

"I would just say that when his contract is up, it would not surprise me. Tony can make him a better offer and all that. It is certainly something that has been discussed. I will just say that."

Meltzer stated that Regal is still part of AEW and will be for some time to come, later tweeting: “A correction from last night's show regarding Regal's deal. Based on what he said when he signed, his deal signed last spring was for three years.”
