Report: WWE Eager To Re-Sign Drew McIntyre

WWE Are Reportedly Keen To Sign Drew McIntyre To A New Deal

After reports surfaced regarding Drew McIntyre’s WWE contact status, with him believed to be in the final year of his deal with the promotion, more news has emerged on this story. It was initially stated that McIntyre and WWE weren’t close on a new deal, with both McIntyre and WWE waiting until nearer to the expiration time to negotiate.

A report from Fightful Select has given some more insight on not just McIntyre’s contract, but details across the board when it comes to WWE deals. The report states;

“McIntyre is actually one of many contracts that are set to expire within WWE by the end of 2024. After the emergence of AEW in 2019, WWE signed dozens of talents to 5-year contracts that year. Many of them ended up being cut and brought back during the pandemic.

Fightful had been told towards the end of the Vince McMahon era that the company would likely wait until closer to the contract expiration to renew deals, but we haven't learned how that's changed under Triple H. It goes without saying, but WWE is eager to keep Drew McIntyre, and we're told they hope to engage him in talks later this year.”

McIntyre is a former two-time WWE Champion and one of the top stars in the company, so it is of little surprise that WWE is eager to retain him as a roster member.
