With the mass WWE releases on November 4 2021, it was subsequently suggested that several of the names released were let go due to not being vaccinated against COVID-19, with Nia Jax named as one of the wrestlers involved.

Now, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some light on the manner, saying:

“Regarding vaccinations and people being fired, while nobody was told that if they didn’t get vaccinated that it would threaten their jobs, there were people very much encouraged to get vaccinated. One top wrestler who was not vaccinated was told that if you didn’t get vaccinated you would be less valuable to the company due to not being able to go on overseas tours.”

This comes from earlier reports from Meltzer saying WWE never told performers that they had to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The suggestions that talent could lose their jobs due to their vaccination status has caused debate, with AEW’s Tony Khan revealing that ‘most’ of the AEW roster are vaccinated against COVID-19.
